Frequently Asked Questions

You can expect a friendly greeting, using your name to confirm you are in the right place and you are welcome here. You can expect the initial “what brings you in today?” to begin the conversation. We use a biopsychosocial interview so we can understand things that may be contributing to your complaint, and to also identify strengths that we can draw on. We may use special tests, or palpation (feeling the tissues) to help us rule out or confirm suspected issues. The therapist will then walk you through the differential diagnosis, and proposed treatment. At the same time, they will explain their findings so you can understand what is going on in your own body. You have the right to informed consent, so we will ask you if this is ok before we proceed. You can withdraw consent at any time. The therapist will leave the room while you dress down and lay on the table. This is always at your own comfort level. While in treatment, only the area of your body that we are treating will be draped. Every other part will be covered by the sheets and blanket. We use firm and secure draping methods so you always feel covered and safe. At the end of the treatment, the therapist may give you some home care to complete between appointments. This is to help train your body to feel better and get stronger. It is very specific and tailored to you and your complaints.

We are LGBT+ friendly, BIPOC allies, body positive, and welcome all people. This is a safe space, and you can expect to be treated with the same amount of respect as we show everyone.

Here at Inspira, we don’t go by a “light, medium, deep” pressure scale. Every body and nervous system is very different. We will adjust to your body and how you and your tissues are reacting. The therapist will check in with you throughout your treatment. It is very easy to adjust pressure and technique, so feedback is welcome! It is easier for us to adjust to your individual needs than for you to sit in discomfort through a treatment or feel as if the treatment was ineffective. We may use a “pain scale” if your treatment is expected to be uncomfortable, and we never want you to be in so much pain that you have difficulty breathing.

We have treated people in all stages of dress. While the majority of people will dress down to just underwear, this is always an individual choice. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe, so this is ultimately up to you. Remember, only the part of you that is being treated will be draped. Every other part will remain under cover, and we use very secure methods of draping so you never have to worry about things slipping.

We use clean sheets for each individual coming in for treatment. Music is kept quiet and lyric-free, and can be adjusted as needed. We use natural filtered light during the day, and low level warm light in the evening. Oils and lotions are scent-free and hypoallergenic. Any adjustments needed can be discussed with your therapist before or during treatment. Each treatment is yours. You are in complete control, and we will do whatever is necessary to help you feel safe and comfortable.

We take cash and all cards. EFTPOS is done either by tap or manual entry.

While every case is different, we will discuss with you after your treatment. Some people will come weekly if they are working on a few or one persistent issue. Our goal is to get you to a point where you do not rely on massage to feel better, but that you do so because you enjoy it. Many people choose to come once per month to get some reminders on home care, and to work on some small issues that may come up. Ultimately, we leave it up to you and what you choose. We may suggest a frequency and duration, but you are in control of your own experience.

We treat many different conditions. Some of the most frequent ones are musculoskeletal imbalances, postural strains, chronic pain, back and spinal issues, frozen shoulder, pregnancy and postpartum care, TMJ dysfunction, trigger points, sprains, neurological dysfunction, TBI, hypermobility, constipation, breathing dysfunctions and many many more. If you have further questions about massage being right for you, please reach out for a consultation.

We will assess your individual needs when we see you. The only kind of treatment that we request prior notice is pre and post-natal massage, or any heart conditions, so we can set up the treatment table for your safety. Private Breath work is assessed and performed for each individual. Group Breath work sessions are predetermined, but will be adjusted if there are any individual needs.

We do not offer Health fund, Aged Care, or NDIS rebates at this time. Please contact us to discuss any concerns or barriers you may have to receiving care.

You only need to bring yourself. We have everything here for you and your comfort. Some like to wear comfortable clothing they can move in for assessments. Some will also bring a water bottle as thirst is a normal reaction after a relaxation massage. Please remember to turn your phone to silent or do not disturb so you can be fully present and enjoy your time.
-
As with a massage, you only need to bring yourself. Some people like to bring a notebook and writing utensil to record their thoughts, breakthroughs, goals, and steps. Bring an open mind, and be prepared to do a lot of mental work to get through some of your limiting beliefs, barriers, and obstacles. We are there to support you while you do this work at your own pace.

If you are joining us for a group session, please bring a yoga mat or something to lay on, as well as a blanket and pillow. We have some supplies, but it is limited and we cannot accommodate everyone at this moment. We hope to be able to provide these in the near future. Please wear comfortable clothing that does not pinch or cause sensory issues. Some people may bring eye masks to help reduce sensory input. If you are joining us for a private session, we will have everything you need. You can choose to wear comfortable clothing, or you can change when you arrive.
